Homeschool coop

Currently the Creekside Church Homeschool Cooperative is in the planning stages. We are seeking volunteer families to help serve on the leadership team. When this becomes available to the public for enrollment, the website will be updated and a registration link will be included.

Purpose

The Creekside Church Homeschool Cooperative (CCHC) exists as a ministry of Creekside Church to partner with parents as they disciple their children. We believe God has entrusted parents with the primary responsibility of raising their children in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord, and the local church is called to come alongside families with encouragement, biblical teaching, community, and opportunities for spiritual growth.

Everything we do flows from the mission of Creekside Church:

Creekside Church will proclaim Christ crucified, buried, and risen; will make disciples who are abiding in Jesus, being transformed by Jesus, and are on mission with Jesus; and will glorify God in everything.

  • Creekside Church Homeschool Co-Op will proclaim Christ crucified, buried, and risen through each session offered. Every class, activity, relationship, and conversation points students and families to the work of Jesus. Rather than separating education from our Biblical beliefs, we are providing connections between education and God. All learning will be viewed through the lens of the Bible.

  • Creekside Church Homeschool Co-Op will make disciples who are abiding in Jesus, being transformed by Jesus, and are on mission with Jesus. Sessions will encourage spiritual disciplines, demonstration of the fruit of the Spirit, and for participants to serve the local church and/or missions. Additionally, the Co-Op will exist to provide community as we make disciples. 

  • Creekside Church Homeschool Co-Op will glorify God in everything by striving to serve the Lord through program excellence. 

Participants

CCHC is open for families that use homeschooling as their primary education method. Families do not need to attend Creekside, but do need to support and uphold the Statement of Faith at Creekside Church. Kids that are completing preschool-12th grade in a homeschool setting can participate. Younger siblings can attend, but are not considered participants.

When

Mondays from 10:30am-2pm

  • 10:30-10:45 – arrival, check in
  • 10:45-11:30 - Community Time - A time for older kids and younger kids to work together on reading, memory verses, and such 
  • 11:30-12noon - Chapel (devotional, music maybe, object lesson, memory verse) *mandatory for participants
  • 12-12:45 - Sack lunch & free time
  • 12:55 - 2pm - Elementary & High School course offerings (nursery/not-yet-in preschool childcare will be available for the first 10 kids checked into the class; kids not in childcare need to remain under parent supervision)
  • 2:05-3pm - Independent time to work on materials

Where

CCHC will primarily use the Creekside Kids dedicated space. The families should use the Family Entrance (which will be locked at a specific time). If families arrive after the Family Entrance is locked, they will need to use the main entrance. The Kids Chapel will be the primary meeting space, additional rooms can be requested, as needed and available.

  • Director of Kids Discipleship - Elisabeth Jacobson
    • Responsibilities: oversee whole programming, scheduling building usage, ensures compliance with the Protection Policy, budgeting, facilitating communication with staff, volunteers, and participants, meet with leadership team, lead Chapel

  • Leadership Team - 3-5 families
    • Meet regularly and serve with the Director of Kids Discipleship (time commitment for this is anticipated to meet 1-2 a month, as needed, for a few hours each time, meetings will be scheduled at the convenience of the majority of the team)
    • Plan events and classes
    • Schedule volunteers and classes
    • Fulfill the bridge between the program and church mission statement
    • Ensure all families are contributing
    • Must be regular attenders of Creekside Church for at least 6 months
    • Must be able to pass the vetting process (application, background check)

  • Families
    • Not a drop off event, one parent must remain on campus
    • Must serve the co-op in some capacity
      • Members of our church can teach and serve as adult helpers
      • *Non-members of our church can request to learn about the process about becoming vetted to teach.
      • Non-members of our church help with clean up, set up, tear down, etc.

  • Teachers
    • Do not need to have kids in the Co-Op.
    • Need to be a member of Creekside Church
      • *Non-members of our church can request to learn about the process about becoming vetted to teach. 

  • Kids
    • Preschool through 12th grade
      • Not just preschool age, but parents are actually providing preschool lessons at home
    • Younger siblings can attend, but need to remain under supervision

  • Curriculum
    • This co-op is not based on a single curriculum. Rather this is a supplemental and/or enrichment program to the curriculum that the parents use with their kids at home. In other words, our class offerings do not require specific reading, writing, or math curriculum. Additionally, some of the classes may not cover traditional reading, writing, and math. 

  • Budget
    • $25/child/semester to offset costs for paper, typically offered craft supplies, background checks, cleaning supplies, etc. Must be paid upfront. No scholarships (if needed, we can refer them to a homeschooling allotment program). 
      • Craft supplies: the closet typically has glue, paper, markers, crayons, pipe cleaners etc available
      • Supplies for knitting (for example) would not be covered under this fee
    • Additional classes can incur a cost for families. We will try to provide a supply list to families for those classes so they can shop directly. We may be able to offer a package where they can register for and we provide the materials too.
    • No refunds.
