Statement of faith

God

God is the creator of the universe and He is perfectly holy in all of His attributes. He exists eternally in three persons, God the Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Sprit. The three are co-equal to one another and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1, 14, 8:58; Rev. 1:4-8; Titus 2:13; Acts 5:3-4)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the son of God, born of a Virgin, co-equal, and co-eternal with God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. It is through Him that God opened the way of abundant and eternal life to all through His life, death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus will come back for His church personally, imminently, bodily, and visibly to establish His eternal kingdom. This return of Christ is the Blessed Hope of every believer. (John 8:58; John 1:1, 14; Heb. 4:15; 2 Cor. 5:21: Rom 14:9; 1 Peter 4:5, Titus 2:11-14)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He eternally is coequal and coexists with God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit is God himself encouraging, guiding, and transforming believers in the way of Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells all Christians at the moment of conversion, and empowers believers to live a sanctified life through conviction, edification, and encouragement. The fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of His presence and the gifts of the Spirit are for the building up of the local church. (Acts 5:3-5; John 3:3-5; 14:26; 16:12-15; 1 Thess. 5:19, Acts 1:6-9; Eph.1:13-14, 5:17-21, Gal. 5:22-23, 1 Cor. 12:4-7)

Salvation

All people have sinned and none are righteous, God in his love sent His Son to die for the sins of the world. Man is incapable of doing anything to earn salvation, God gives it as a free gift. The shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:10, 3:23, 3:28, 5:8-9, 10:9; Is. 64:6; 2 Cor. 5:21; John 3:16-17, 14:6; 6:29-30, Acts 4:12, 16:30-31)

The Bible

The Bible is the verbally inspired and inerrant Word of God. It is the supreme authoritative rule in faith and life for God’s people. God used the personalities of individual human authors while guiding them through the Holy Spirit in order to give His word to all people. (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:20-21, Matt. 5:17-18)

The Church

The local church is the body of Christ. The church exists to seek, save, and serve the world. The functions of the church are worship, fellowship, teaching, service, prayer, evangelism, and giving. (Matthew 16:15-16, Acts 2:42-47, 1 Cor. 1:2, 1 Tim. 3:15)

Eternal State

Heaven and Hell are places that exist. Man must make the choice between existing eternally in the lake of fire without God because of sin, or accepting God’s gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins and existing eternally in heaven. All people will exist eternally, in either the new heavens and new earth or in the lake or fire.(Luke 16:19-31; Rev. 20:11-15, 21:1-8; Rom. 6:23; 1 John 5:11-13)

Baptism and Communion

Baptism and Communion are the two ordinances of the local church. Baptism is reserved only for those who have believed in Jesus Christ as their Savior and it is an outward demonstration of an inward transformation. Communion is a memorial of Jesus’ atoning work on the cross. Communion is reserved only for believers in Christ. (Acts 2:37-41, Romans 6:4, 1 Peter 3:21, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-29)

Human Sexuality

We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God and that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman for a lifetime. We believe that God has commanded no form of sexual activity to be engaged in outside of marriage. (Mark 10:6-8; Gen. 1:26-27, 2:23; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Ex. 20:14; Heb. 13:4; Lev. 18:22)
